Laddie Learns a Lesson

For many years we have had various breeds of dogs and after losing our wonderful min pin decided to own a Cardigan Corgi. So after many hours of searching on the net and buying magizines we finally found the dog of ourdreams!

He was flown into SC from California and when we picked him up he was put on the front seat of our truck and we drove home with him. His name was Laddie, a rescue and was 14 months old, the most wonderful dog anyone could own as most Corgi's are.

So to get on with the story we have a large yard with a pool and I was so worried that he would like the pool so continued to monitor him every time we put him outside. I was changing the baby and the water in the pool was about 45 degrees. As I was taking the five minutes to change the baby's diaper something told me to leave the baby and check on Laddie. When looking out he had fallen into the pool! OH my gosh, I grabed the portable phone and ran to his rescue while in the process of dialing 911. I must say that I had a wonderful response from the 911 operator but he came to the side of the pool and was able to get him out immediately!

He was brought inside and as hot natured as a Corgi is he was all too happy to be wrapped in a warm blanket and get warm. I must say he never went near the pool again but we did install an underground fence and taught him not to go near the pool so he wouldn't even go on that side of the yard!

He was a beautiful dog and wonderful partner for the entire family. He died a year later of intestinal problems in which he was born with. We now have his step brother who is just as wonderful and beautiful as he was and enjoy our time with him!

We look at it like this:
Black and Brown
Low to the ground
The best friend you
can ever have around!
Who loves to ride
All over town!
